Overview

We are seeking a Director of Business Development to join our team.

 

This position will work closely with the President, Development to source, evaluate, and secure new hotel management agreements that align with the brand’s strategic growth plan. The role is highly analytical and feasibility-driven, ensuring that each opportunity reflects the brand’s positioning, financial objectives, and market potential.

Responsibilities

General Responsibilities Include:

  • Lead the feasibility process for all potential projects, including preparing comprehensive feasibility studies and proformas, integrating financial modeling, market data, and competitive positioning to assess each project’s long-term sustainability and return potential.
  • Develop detailed investment and underwriting materials—including business plans, deal memorandums, and investor presentations—to support internal approvals and ownership discussions.
  • Collaborate with internal brand, design, and operations teams to ensure proposed projects reflect brand identity, service ethos, and market fit.
  • Assist in preparing new business development materials—including proposal decks, and development marketing collateral—to support outreach to owners, investors, and partners.
  • Support the development efforts including processing NDAs, drafting LOI term sheets, leading RFP submittal processes and preparing case studies.
  • Represent the brand at key industry events and conferences to identify opportunities, strengthen owner relationships, and promote the brand’s development strategy.
  • Travel to potential project sites – both conversions and new development opportunities – and meet with prospective owners to evaluate their suitability. Represent the Viceroy brand as well as Highgate in those interactions.

Qualifications

Skills / Knowledge Required:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; advanced degree in finance, real estate, or hospitality preferred.
  • Hotel feasibility experience required, with proven ability to conduct market studies, assess project viability, and articulate findings to executive leadership.
  • Strong understanding of the hospitality industry—including P&L structure, market segmentation, RevPAR, and competitive positioning.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in hotel development, feasibility, or real estate investment analysis.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel (financial modeling) and PowerPoint (presentation and storytelling).
  • Experience in underwriting, project finance, or private equity strongly preferred.
  • Exceptional analytical, writing, and presentation skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate data into clear, actionable recommendations supporting brand growth and owner decision-making.
  • Self-motivated and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple feasibility assessments and deal opportunities simultaneously.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to communicate effectively across departments and with external ownership groups.
